Course Overview

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ is an internationally-renowned facilitated process used by organisations to engage participants to generate innovative ideas for organisational improvement. The methodology is based on extensive research and enables teams to address complex issues in an engaging way.

There are 3 options for being trained to implement the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methodology:

1 day Foundation program
Use the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ methodology in short applications or sessions such as induction, ice-breakers, recruitment interviews, brainstorms, meetings, project planning discussions, marketing or branding sessions.

2 day Foundation & Special Application program – FOR IN-HOUSE TRAINERS ONLY
In addition to the initial one-day foundation program, attendance at the second day will provide you with the development of the specific way in which you would like to integrate the methodology into your existing sessions. The second day will also provide you with practice and feedback on facilitating the process in your own context.

3 day full Serious Play™ Certification program
Attendance at this program will provide you with the advanced skills that you need to design, run and market full day or longer intensive sessions that are based on the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methodology. Examples of this include strategic planning sessions, team-building, innovation forums and project planning.

Course Outline

1 day Foundation Program

The One-day Foundation program includes:

• Introduction to the theory that rests behind LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ methodology including its history and research foundation drawn from the fields of business, organisational development, psychology and learning

• A hands-on, practical overview of the generic process of facilitation of sessions based within the framework of this methodology

• Introduction to the 3 core steps of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ – posing the question; building and giving meaning and telling and sharing the meaning

• Participation in the session with ‘two hats’ on to experience the power of the methodology as a participant and as a facilitator

• Techniques to ensure that all participants are engaged and in ‘flow’ and to support participants as they experience different comfort levels during a session

• Understand the role of the facilitator to move participants through the 3 core steps of the process for both individual model-building and for creating joint landscapes

• Develop a vocabulary and avoid the traps when facilitating

What are the costs?

Per person $ 1,000.00 + GST

You may choose to commence with the One day Foundation program and then upgrade to the 3 day Full Certification program.

2 day Serious Play™ Foundation & Special Application Program FOR INHOUSE FACILITATORS ONLY

In addition to knowledge gained during the One-day Foundation program, you will:

• Gain confidence as a facilitator through simulated facilitation and through receiving feedback on how group dynamics were managed

• Develop the specific organisation applications and ensure that they would be appropriate in the organisation’s environment

• Ensure that the way in which Serious Play™ is used fits well with the purpose and the outcomes of the session, meeting or group requirements

• Gain practical experience in facilitating specific interventions

• Action plan for the way forward

What are the costs?

Per person, including training guide, facilitation technique, theory, design and integration: $700.00 + GST (Plus the One-day Foundation Program fees).

There is the option of co-facilitation / observation with an experienced Management Consultancy International LEGO® Serious Play™ facilitator @ $2000 per day or $1400 per half day.

3 day Full Serious Play™ Certification Program

For those who want access to the full potential of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ process, the 3 day Full Certification Program will prepare you to effortlessly target, promote, build and lead workshops, sessions and discussion groups in a variety of unique ways to suit any organisational facilitation need. There is also emphasis placed on marketing the process both within organisations as well as to potential client organisations.

The 3 day Certification program includes:

• Comprehensive introduction to the facilitation of a workshop using a range of different LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ applications

• Background to the theory and research that sits behind the powerful use of bricks as a catalyst for story-telling and for building metaphors

• Guidelines to prepare to deliver a workshop including tips and guidelines on briefing participants and clients

• Information on how to process participants through a series of challenges that lead to the outcomes determined for the session. The detailed learning guide provides step-by-step instructions for presenting challenges and then de-briefing through facilitated discussion

• Skills-building – how to engage the group by moving participants into using the bricks to express ideas and innovative thoughts

• Use real-time applications to allow all participants to benefit from playing out scenarios to identify what they could learn from the past, what they can imagine about the future so that they deal in a more effective way with the present.

• Identify ways of capturing information to provide feedback to other teams or to management

• Begin to create your own unique applications for the benefit of your participants

• See the process as both a participant and a facilitator to use the methodology for team development and strategic planning.

Learn how to use the following applications:

• Create super-stories and work with connections

• Understand how to play emergence with the group so that they heed the their landscape and identify actionable points to take their team forward

• Create team guiding principles or team wisdom

• Team identity – core and aspirational

• Identify preferred styles of imagination

• Individual identity and aspirational identity

What are the costs?

Per person, including all facilitator manuals, $3000.00+ GST per person.

Optional Continuous Professional Development

In order to keep up to date with new and interesting developments in LEGO® Serious Play™, for an additional $250 per annum, receive:

• Access to ten webinars per year with exciting information about worldwide improvements and innovative uses of the process. The sessions are conducted by an international panel of experts and provide you with inspiring insights into how the process is being used worldwide. If you miss a session, listen to the saved version.

• A quarterly facilitator newsletter with additional information and exciting ideas for you to incorporate into your sessions to add value for your clients and participants

• Reduced fees access to the annual learning event to be held in Sydney. This is your time to learn from your colleagues and from top facilitators to further advance your skills

Additionally, if you work as a researcher, I.T. professional, executive/life coach or leader in your organisation, your certification in this methodology can bring enormous benefits and is a strong addition to your toolkit of techniques.
